Consumer confidence for the current period has continued on its recovery path after the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, though it remained in the pessimistic zone; the current situation index (CSI)2 improved further on account of better perceptions on general economic situation, employment and household income.One year ahead outlook, as measured by the future expectations index (FEI), also improved, after remaining steady in the previous three survey rounds.Households displayed lower pessimism on the prevailing employment conditions vis-à-vis the previous survey round; they were more optimistic on employment outlook.The current sentiment on overall spending remained close to its level in the previous survey round, though year-ahead outlook improved marginally.The outlook on discretionary spending moved to positive terrain for the first time since the onset of the pandemic.

Foreign Currency Assets excludes US $ 250.00 million (as also its equivalent value in Indian Rupee) invested in foreign currency denominated bonds issued by IIFC (UK) since March 20, 2009, excludes US $ 380.00 million since September 16, 2011, excludes US $ 550.00 million since February 27, 2012 and US $ 673 million since 30th March 2012 and US $ 790 million since July 5, 2012 (as also its equivalent value in Indian Rupee) 3. Data on SDR includes SDRs 3,082.5 million allocated under general allocation and SDRs 214.6 million allocated under special allocation by the IMF done on August 28, 2009 and September 9, 2009, respectively 4. Gold data Include Rupees 314.63 billion (US $ 6,699 million) reflecting the purchase of 200 metric tonnes of gold from IMF on November 3, 2009 Notes: Financial Year 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 is taken as 2016, 2017

1. The data source for this Table for the period 1976-77 to 1999-2000 are Bombay Bullion Association and Press Trust of India. For the period 2000-01 on wards, the data sources are (i) Economic Times, Mumbai/IBJA Website for gold and silver prices in Mumbai and LBMA for gold price in London and (ii) IMF IFS for silver price in New York. 2. Data provided in this Table for the period 1976-77 to 1999-2000 and 2000-01 to 2013-14 may not be strictly comparable due to different sources of information.

This dataset covers the following public data available at RBI website. 1. NRI Deposits (Monthly) 2. NRI Deposits Outstanding (USD & INR) 3. Inflows/ Outflows- Under Various NRI Deposit Schemes(USD & INR) Note: For every Financial Year the last year has been considered, for e.g 2015-2016 as 2016 2016-2017 as 2017 and so on.

Monthly data on services are provisional and would undergo revision when the Balance of Payments (BoP) data are released on a quarterly basis. The Reserve Bank releases monthly data on India’s international trade in services with a lag of around 45 days.
